Maureen O’Brien

Founder, Managing Director

Maureen O’Brien is a founder and Managing Director of LINC. In this role, Ms. O’Brien coordinates with LINC staff on project development, conducts negotiation training and writes and edits negotiation simulations.  Mostly recently Ms. O’Brien co-wrote the simulation Placing the Displaced, which the United Institute of Peace purchased for its course training practitioners on conflict resolution. Ms. O’Brien also co-wrote the simulation Harnessing Energy for the Pacific and Asian Affairs Council to explore environmental conflict. The subject matter is particularly relevant to Ms. O’Brien’s other professional capacity in the Corporate Social Responsibility field.

As Head of Engagement for Conflict Risk Network, Maureen O’Brien leads CRN’s dialogue with companies in select conflict-affected areas on behalf of CRN’s membership base. Her previous positions include Research Director for the Center for Political Accountability, Senior Research Associate for RiskMetrics, and Research Associate for the Public International Law & Policy Group, a law firm nominated for a 2005 Nobel Peace Prize for assistance to states involved in peace negotiations and post-conflict situations. She holds a Master’s degree in International Conflict Resolution from American University, where she was a co-founder of the American University Negotiation Project. Ms. O’Brien has published articles on the conflicts in Burma and Sri Lanka for the Diplomatic Courier.
