Sara Shokravi

Sara Shokravi is a member of LINC working on simulation research, design and editing. Ms. Shokravi specializes in projects related to Iran, human rights advocacy, and non-profit management. Outside of LINC, Ms. Shokravi is currently the National Security and Human Rights Communications Fellow at the US in the World Initiative. Working with the National Security and Human Rights Campaign, Sara helps to establish messaging guides to increase effectiveness and consistency of advocates’ messages in order to develop rapid response strategy and to contribute to field-building among diverse organizations that work in the Campaign’s four issue areas: torture, detention, and rendition; profiling and discrimination; surveillance and dissent; and secrecy, oversight, and government accountability. Prior to US in the World, Sara served as the West Coast Director and the Director of Programming for the National Iranian American Council (NIAC). In her role as the West Coast Director, Sara was tasked with establishing NIAC’s presence on the West Coast by fostering relationships with Members of Congress in Washington, Oregon and California, while engaging with the Iranian-American Diaspora to better develop civic participation among the community. As the Director of Programming Sara managed all NIAC programming relating to U.S.-Iran foreign policy, including: annual conferences, briefings on Capitol Hill, speaker series, and fundraisers. Prior to joining NIAC, she served as a Legal Assistant to the Structured Finance practice law group for Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP. Sara has had over six years of experience volunteering with the National Collegiate Conference Association where she has researched and published several background guides relating to the work of the United Nations for college students. Sara is currently finishing her master’s thesis from American University and has received her Bachelor’s of Arts in Political Science and History from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. She speaks fluent Farsi and proficient Spanish.
